Laura Dugom, MPH

Laura Dugom, MPH, serves as Associate Director of Clinical Research at Target ALS. Laura earned her Masters from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she focused on epidemiology, biostatistics, and clinical research methods. 

Throughout her career, she has worked across academia, industry, and the nonprofit sector, supporting clinical research programs in cardiovascular disease, infectious disease, hematologic malignancies, and neurodegenerative disorders. 

Before joining Target ALS, Laura held research and clinical operations leadership roles and helped manage global clinical trials and observational studies. She has also provided consulting support to biotechnology companies and research organizations, helping design and operationalize clinical research programs. 

Since joining Target ALS, Laura has led the development and expansion of AGRI (A Global ALS Research Initiative), one of the largest and most diverse longitudinal observational research programs in ALS. She oversees the Global Natural History Study and community-based research initiatives. Under her leadership, the program has grown substantially in participant enrollment, biospecimen collection, genomic data generation, and global representation, creating resources that are accelerating biomarker discovery and therapeutic development for ALS. 

Laura is passionate about building collaborative research networks, advancing equitable participation in clinical research, and developing infrastructure that enables scientists to answer critical questions about disease biology. Through global research partnerships and open-access data and biospecimen resources, she helps build the foundation researchers need to better understand ALS and develop more effective treatments.
