Daniel Weatherill, Ph.D.

Daniel Weatherill, Ph.D., is a neuroscientist and data scientist focused on connecting neuroscience, AI, and large-scale data systems to accelerate discovery in complex diseases. He is driven by building tools and frameworks that help researchers ask better questions—and answer them faster.

At Target ALS, Daniel leads the development and management of the multi-modal Data Engine, designing pipelines and analytical tools that make diverse biological, clinical, and digital health datasets accessible, interoperable, and actionable. His work supports the organization’s mission to enable collaborative, open science that moves the needle on ALS research.

Daniel’s career has taken him from molecular and systems neuroscience to cancer metabolism, machine learning, and computational modeling. These experiences shaped his data-driven approach to understanding how biological systems behave—and how technology can help uncover new insights.

He lives in Venice, California, with his wife and their two cats, where he enjoys surfing, hiking, live music, film, and art, and exploring new ways to blend curiosity with impact.
